Privacy
What we record, and what we don’t
Written in plain English, because a privacy policy nobody can read is not a privacy policy.
If you fill in one of our forms
There are two: the estimate form, and the shorter one on the colors page where you tell us which flake blends caught your eye. We get what you typed — your name, phone number, email, city, your color picks, and whatever you told us about the floor. We use it to get back to you about your floor and nothing else. We do not sell it, rent it, or hand it to anybody outside Sterling.
Those submissions are stored by Netlify, the company that hosts this website, and a copy is emailed to us.
If you just look around
We count visits so we can tell whether the website is doing its job. What gets recorded is which page you looked at, roughly how long you stayed, how far down you scrolled, whether the estimate form ever came onto your screen, and whether you arrived from Google, from Facebook, or by typing us in.
None of that can identify you. We do not record your name, your address, your IP address, or what you type into a form. If you start filling the estimate form in and change your mind, we never see a word of it.
That counting runs on our own website. It is not Google Analytics and the information is not shared with anybody.
Cookies, and what they actually do
A cookie is a small note a website leaves in your browser. Ours holds one thing: a random string of letters and numbers, so that if you come back next week we can tell it is the same browser rather than a new visitor. It has no name attached to it, and there is no way to turn it into one. It lasts six months.
Two other companies also set cookies on this site:
- Google — so we can tell whether an ad we paid for led to somebody getting in touch.
- Meta (Facebook and Instagram) — the same thing for ads we run there.
Those two are advertising cookies and they belong to Google and Meta, not to us. Their own privacy policies cover what they do with them.
How to stop it
If your browser is set to “Do Not Track” or has Global Privacy Control switched on, our counter sets no cookie and records nothing at all. We check before we count.
Beyond that, every browser will let you block or delete cookies in its settings, and blocking ours will not stop any part of this website working.
Ask us anything
If you want to know what we hold about you, or want it deleted, just ask — call 515-842-8402 or email tthompson@sterlingconcretecoatings.com and we will sort it out.
